Passed B.Sc. in 1977 and LL.B. in 1982 from the University of Calcutta. Enrolled as an Advocate in December, 1984, joined Calcutta High Court. Practice mainly as a defence Lawyer in criminal matters. Was a Panel Lawyer of Union of India, State of West Bengal  as well as Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Was appointed as a permanent Judge of Calcutta High Court on June 22, 2006.
