Prasenjit Mandal, B.Sc. Honours in Physics, LL.B. was born on March 28, 1952. He was enrolled as an advocate on May 3, 1975. He passed the W.B.C.S. (Judicial) Examination in the year 1976 and joined the  Judicial Service on September 20, 1976. He was promoted to the W.B.H.J.S. on February 1, 1996. He held the posts of Additional District & Sessions Judge, Judge, Special Court, under the E.C. Act, Judge, Special Court under the N.D.P.S. Act and Chief Judicial Magistrate at different stations of West Bengal. He worked as the District & Sessions Judge, Dakshin Dinajpur at Balurghat from November 11, 2002 to March 9, 2004. He was appointed as the Commissioner for Departmental Enquiries, Vigilance Commission, West Bengal from March 11, 2004 to January 24, 2006. He functioned as  the Judge, City Civil Court, Calcutta from January 24, 2006 and the Chief Judge, City Civil Court, Calcutta from April 1, 2006 to June 21, 2006. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court, Calcutta on June 22, 2006, and a permanent Judge on January 31, 2008.
