Born on 15th June, 1952. Passed Higher Secondary Examination in 1968 in First Division with letter in Chemistry from Atheneum Institution, Calcutta. Passed B.Sc. with Honours in Chemistry in 1971 from Vidyasagar College, Calcutta. Passed L.LB from Surendranath College.

Stood second in W.B.C.S. (Judicial) Examination held in 1978. Joined Judicial Service in 1979.

Posted in different stations in various capacities. Posted in Calcutta Port Trust as Deputy Legal Advisor on deputation.  Posted under Andaman & Nicobar Administration as Secretary Law on deputation. As Secretary Law used to function as Secretary Labour, Secretary Jail, I.G. Prison and Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authorities. As District Judge posted at Birbhum, 24 Paraganas (South), Alipur twice, Dakshin Dinajpur, Balurghat. Posted as Chief Judge, City Sessions Court and before elevation posted as Registrar General, Calcutta High Court. Elevated to the Bench on 21st June 2010.
